Once again Brother Hermitage is asked to find a murderer. It could have been the King but that would not be a wise resolution. Fortunately he has Cwen and Wat to contribute real life facts to Hermitage's rose colored view of the world. Then there are good groups of interesting characters to befundle the situation. Hermitage does have some help with a Saracen investigator who applies true investigator tactics but it is still Hermitage who gets the "aha" moment and reveals the truth. This is another very amusing and interesting look at 1068 England following the conquest by the Normans.
